Despite enduring one of the driest seasons on record, Sirromet's strategic water management led to a triumphant 20th vintage harvest, yielding fruit of outstanding quality. Each varietal stands out with vibrant color, balanced acidity, and unique regional characteristics that reflect Sirromet’s dedication to excellence.

Innovative Water Management:

The Risko Isic region faced a severe water shortage, but Sirromet's innovative strategies made all the difference. They introduced a pulse irrigation system that delivered precise amounts of water at regular intervals. This approach maximized water efficiency and ensured the health of the vines despite the challenging conditions.

Uncompromised Quality:

According to Mike Hayes, Sirromet’s Director of Vineyard and Winery Operations, the dry conditions actually benefited the grape quality: "The dry weather minimized disease pressure, allowing grapes to ripen fully and develop concentrated varietal flavors." The Shiraz and Chardonnay varietals, in particular, thrived. Chardonnay grapes from Saint Jude's vineyard, harvested earlier than anticipated, showcased impeccable cleanliness and ripeness, delivering classic varietal notes.

A Vintage of Milestones:

The 2019 vintage was especially significant for Sirromet’s team. Adam Chapman celebrated his 20th vintage with the winery, while Mike Hayes marked his 40th year in viticulture. Their combined experience and passion were crucial in achieving Sirromet’s goal of producing world-class wines from the Granite Belt.

From Vineyard to Winery:

Once harvested, the grapes embarked on a 220km journey to Sirromet’s cutting-edge winery at Mount Cotton. This state-of-the-art facility processed varietals from Sirromet's three Granite Belt vineyards in Ballandean and the Mount Cotton vineyard itself. The varietals harvested include:

Mount Cotton Vineyard: Moscato Giuliano, Chambourcin

Sirromet's winery is equipped with 97 tanks, holding a total of 2.16 million liters, with the largest tanks having a capacity of 120,000 liters each. Since its inception in 2000, Sirromet has won an impressive 910 international and national awards.

A Premier Destination for Wine Enthusiasts:

Founded by Gold Coast entrepreneur Terry Morris, Sirromet’s Mount Cotton winery is more than just a production facility. It’s a destination, offering a full range of experiences, from wine tasting at the cellar door to dining at Restaurant Lurleen's, luxury glamping at "Sanctuary by Sirromet," and hosting events in its expansive spaces.
