As a much younger person growing up in the countryside of northern Maryland, my great granddaddy, the only country doctor for miles around, told me to always keep your head down and nose to the grindstone and some day you will be recognized for the value of your works, and never lose sight of your goals and dreams.
My goal and dream was to be a reporter at the United Nations; however, the U.N. required five years of various reporting assignments. When I left Washington as a Congressional Reporter during the height of the VietNam police action, my colleagues told me I was safe where I was, not to leave, that I would not be drafted. I didn't take their advice and was drafted shortly thereafter into the United States Army.
The objective is mission directed, do that which is expected by those to whom we provide a service in a timely and cost sensitive manner, without violating any ethical standard or law of the land.
